Groundhog Day is a holiday observed on February 2 in US and Canada.
The main character of that day is Groundhog. If the groundhog leave the burrow, winter will soon end. Nevertheless, if the groundhog will retreat into its burrow - winter will continue for six more weeks. In practice, the Groundhog can predict the end of a winter only with 50% probability, but still the holiday is perceived as a very funny event.

The largest Groundhog Day events takes place in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. Since 1886 crowds are gathering there to celebrate the holiday and see groundhog called Phil. The holiday received worldwide attention thanks to Groundhog Day movie in 1993, which was set in Punxsutawney and featured Punxsutawney Phil.
