Lent

Lent (2017-03-01 - 2017-04-13)

In Christianity Lent is treated as a time of penance and conversion. It covers a period from Ash Wednesday till Holy Thursday.

The traditional purpose od Lent is the preperation- through prayer, repentance, almsgiving and self-denial- for the annual commemoration during Holy Week of the Death and Resurrection of Jesus witch recalls the events linked to the Passion of Christ and cultiminates Easter, the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Historically Lent was seen much more restrictive. It began on Asch Wednesday. During the Lent, people were eaten only bread with jam or dunk in oil. They served herrings without cream, also coffee was served without milk and sugar, as it was prepared from roasted acorn. Instead desserts they served sweet cakes called „everlasting” witch was eatable even half year after baking.
During Lent any balls or parties wasn't organised. It happened that during this period children's toys were burried, leaving only the most damaged one.

Take this opportunity and send ecards, Lent quotes and wishes in this special day.
