Veterans Day

Veterans Day (2017-11-11)

Memorial Day (Veterans Day) is observed on November 11 in Anglo-Saxon countries to commemorates U.S. Men and woman who died while in the military service. The holiday was established after the First World War. In Canada and Belgium the holiday is known as a Remembrance Day.

Memorial Day is celebrated in all states in USA. Celebrations include parades and ceremonies. In Washington, hundreds of people are gathering around Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall. The main celebrations are taking place on military cemetery in Arlington.
During that day people are visiting cemeteries and memorials, having barbecue and picnics.

In UK, Memorial Day is is observed on the Second Sunday of November and it is called Poppy Day. Red poppies are being worn during that day. These flowers were chosen because of the poppies that bloomed across of the worst Flanders' battlefields in World War I. The main celebrations stars at 11 a. m. when two minutes of silence are observed. Ceremonies are held at local was memorials where people are praying, laying poppy wreaths and military orchestras are playing.
